      Remembering Miah Bundukamara

      May 1, 2000 – December 14, 2021

On December 14, 2021, Cristi Bundukamara faced an unimaginable family tragedy. Her heart was shattered as she said goodbye to her beloved 21-year-old daughter, Miah, who peacefully passed away in her sleep. This profound loss would shake anyone’s world, yet Cristi’s unwavering commitment to transforming her own anguish into programs and services to aid others in their journey through grief is nothing short of remarkable.

What you are about to witness is Cristi’s unfiltered, raw, and heart-wrenching voyage through the depths of grief. Dr. B, as she’s affectionately known, opens up her soul to share her intimate experiences with you, in the hopes that her story can provide insight, understanding, and compassion. Whether you’re grappling with your own grief or supporting a loved one who is, Cristi’s journey is a testament to the enduring human spirit and its ability to find healing and strength in the face of unimaginable pain.

In the tapestry of Cristi’s life, the thread of loss is tragically not limited to Miah alone. It was on October 30th, 2016, that her beloved son Reggie departed from this world, falling victim to the relentless complications of DRPLA at the tender age of 17. Reggie’s memory, his courage in the face of adversity, and the love that Cristi holds for him form an indelible part of this narrative. Their combined stories serve as a testament to the enduring love of a mother and the resilience of the human spirit.

This unfiltered gift of self that Cristi shares with us is a profound and generous offering. As you embark on your own journey of self-discovery, may you find solace, empathy, and inspiration within her words. The hope is that, through her story, you can better comprehend the excruciating pain of losing someone you love and, in turn, offer compassion to yourself and those you hold dear in your life. Thank you, Cristi, for your courage, your vulnerability, and your enduring spirit. Your journey stands as a beacon of light for all of us navigating the stormy seas of grief.
